Car Manufacturers

Car Manufacturers Guide

Many fleet owners want to use the same car manufacturer for their entire fleet: but which car manufacturer can offer the best vehicles for your business?

Here we examine some of the services that you should look for from a car manufacturer as well as offering links to each carmaker via our comprehensive car manufacturers list.

Why choose the same car manufacturer for your entire fleet?

There are many reasons why it may be advantageous to choose the same carmaker to provide all the vehicles in your fleet:

- Fleet support services: Ordering several vehicles from one car manufacturer may entitle you to enjoy a range of additional fleet services from that company. This may range from after-sales support to accident management and breakdown services.

- Discounts: Buying or leasing numerous vehicles from the same provider may entitle you to extensive discounts.

- Familiarity: It will be easier to judge the performance of your drivers if they are all using the same vehicles. Similarly it will be easier to ask a driver to get behind the wheel of a different vehicle in the same fleet if it is from the same manufacturer.

So how do you know which car manufacturer to choose?

Choosing from the car manufacturers list may seem daunting with so many options: but there are a number of factors to consider when making your choice.

- Specialist vehicles: Is the car manufacturer able to specialise its vehicles to meet the needs of your fleet. For example: does it offer a fleet of minibuses, ambulances, taxis, or whatever your fleet requires?

- Fleet services: What special provisions is the car manufacturer willing to offer as part of a wider business fleet service? For example, will it offer your business access to its approved repairers; does it offer roadside assistance; what about accident management services?

- Extras: Can you benefit from any additional extras using the same carmaker for your fleet: such as free car insurance; or annual services as part of the package? Many lease deals will include maintenance and servicing.

- Price lists and order guides: Can you see exactly what the fleet of vehicles costs and see clear details of how much company car tax will be payable? Can you see how economical the vehicles are to run; their CO2 emissions; and which insurance band they fit into? Does the car manufacturer also offer a guide to whole life costs so you can establish how much the vehicle will cost to run over 20,000, 40,000 or 80,000miles?

- Warranties: Does the car manufacturer offer a comprehensive warranty that will limit the downtime for your fleet? Many car manufacturers offer a variety of warranties such as: base warranties for any part of the vehicle that requires a replacement or repair due to a manufacturing defect; paint surface warranties; corrosion warranties; repaired or replaced parts warranties; and even wear and tear warranties for basic items that need to be replaced during scheduled maintenance.

- Additional considerations: Some fleet owners may want to consider additional factors such as the environmental policies of the car manufacturer; or whether the car manufacturer is from Britain or produces vehicles here to support the economy.
