Euro NCAP was set up by the Transport Research Laboratory, for the UK Department of Transport in 1997, and is totally independent of the automotive industry. Euro NCAP is composed of seven European Governments as well as motoring and consumer organisations in every European country. Euro NCAP organises car crash-tests and provides motoring consumers with realistic and independent assessments of the safety performance of some of the most popular cars sold in Europe.
