AcciDON’T support Grampian Police
Grampian Police Road Safety Unit based at both Nelson Street in Aberdeen and Elgin was proud to be handed the keys for a Vauxhall Corsa motor car yesterday (24 January 2007), thanks to sponsorship from AcciDON’T driver training.
The Unit will utilise the vehicle to maintain their efforts to spread the Road Safety message across Grampian, reaching out to all road users, including the young and inexperienced drivers who unfortunately account for a high proportion of serious and fatal collisions in our area.
The car has distinctive livery, providing a clear road safety message when in use daily. It will be used to assist at many of the events which are run in the region by the unit, including successful Young Driver Training Days and the continuation of ‘Driving Ambition’ to the majority of 6th year pupils across the region.
AcciDON’T Driver Training are an innovative company, with a fresh approach to fleet driver training. They believe that a successful driver training programme requires more than ‘on-road’ training. Cultural, behavioural, and attitude development, all form part of a successful package.
Director, Simon Johnston said, ‘ The purpose of AcciDON’T is to promote safer driving in various ways. I think the Road Safety Unit in Grampian are doing a fantastic job and am very pleased to be supporting them in this way.’
Sergeant Alan Brown of the Road Safety Unit is equally delighted about the link. “Finding ways to get the Road Safety message across has always been a challenge. Much of the Unit’s work involves visiting schools, companies and organisations across the Grampian area to deliver presentations, resulting in the car being seen by many people. For this reason, I hope it’s distinctive chequered livery will continuously highlight road safety as we go about our daily business. We are very grateful to AcciDON’T for their commitment. Sponsored vehicles have proved invaluable to the Road Safety Unit in the past and this will allow a continuation of our good work.”
