GPS software developer, Navevo has unveiled its sat-nav solution for drivers vans. It uses Navteq Transport for its maps. Key software features include re-routing and navigation optimisation based on a vehicle’s dimensions and legal restrictions to avoid incidents such as travelling down unsuitable narrow roads or legal restrictions like carrying hazardous goods.
The best part is that ProNav allows drivers to enter their vehicles’ vital statistics to get you to your destination in the most direct route as possible. This includes in-putting weight, height, length, width and the goods you are carrying (normal, corrosive/explosive). The software then calculates a route to ensure drivers are not confronted with roads or obstacles not suitable for their vehicle or cargo.
The system has also a database of the London unloading and loading parking penalties – good to know if you’re a delivery driver.
It also pin-points red routes and standard loading bays for delivery drivers and provides exception times and maximum loading period data. Drivers can search for these facilities by street name, town or postcode allowing them to prepare in advance of a journey.
ProNav comes complete with street level mapping for the UK and Republic of Ireland, seven-digit postcode lookup and a six-month free trial of safety camera alerts.
Navevo will be extending its ProNav software to work with commercial fleet mobile market solutions in the near future.
