Motor auctioneer makes it personal – and keeps number plate contract

LEEDS-based Premier Motorauctions has retained its contract with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to auction personalised number plates.
Premier was first awarded the contract in 2001 and, in winning it for a second time, had to fight off opposition from other auction houses and companies.
Keith Elliott, Premier’s managing director said: “We are thrilled at the news.
“In our first five years we increased DVLA’s auction revenue by over £60m and we have every confidence in our ability to continue this improvement in the new contract.
“Innovation and our industry-leading technology play a huge part in this company’s future. We have new and exciting ideas that will take DVLA auctions onto a higher plain.”
Partnership
Damian Lawson, DVLA personalised registrations marketing manager, said the organisation applied stringent criteria when appointing an auction company.
“Premier Motorauctions have demonstrated that they can offer the best service that the auction industry has to offer, and we look forward to the continuation of a partnership between the public and private sector,” he added.
Premier Motorauctions hit the personalised number headlines in April when it auctioned 51 NGH for a record price of £254,000.
The next DVLA auction is at the Marriott Forest of Arden Golf & Country Club in Warwickshire next month. It is one of the six that Premier conducts each year on behalf of DVLA.
