Nissan has announced that it will display key LCV models at the Hanover Motor Show next week. Its well known Cabstar will be imoroved while there will also be a concept vehicle on the stand.
The Cabstar will have a Hybrid powertrain, this is a single clutch system that consists of the existing 3.0-litre (ZD30) diesel unit and develops 150PS. The technology has been developed in cooperation with ZF, Nissan’s technical partner on Hybrid technologies. The battery is Lithium Ion and has been supplied as part of Nissan’s joint venture with leading Japanese company NEC.
Nissan estimates that the Cabstar Hybrid can potentially achieve a 30 per cent reduction in fuel consumption, depending on driving style. The Cabstar Hybrid will also include Stop/Start technology, which automatically cuts the engine to conserve fuel. Regenerative Braking will be another feature of the Cabstar Hybrid.
The concept vehicle on the stand will be called NV200. This vehicle was first shown at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show, the NV200 is a look ahead to the possible future of a modern van.
Designed at Nissan Design Europe, in London, NV200 demonstrates that Nissan’s commitment to emotive design, alternative thinking and bold innovation extends not only to its passenger vehicles, but to its light commercial vehicles too.
