M4 Leckhampstead
Maintenance works to the eastbound carriageway of the M4 near Leckhampstead began on the 15 September and continues through until January 2009.
The scheme is being undertaken to repair 2.5 miles of the M4, in lanes one, two and three as well as the hard shoulder of the eastbound carriageway, just to the west of junction 13 (Chieveley)
Narrow lanes and a traffic management contra-flow will be in place 24 hours a day, together with occasional overnight hard shoulder and lane closures when required. A 50 mph speed limit will be enforced on site for the duration of the works.
Ongoing works:
M27 Junction 3-4
Work to widen the M27 between junction 3 and 4 began on Monday 3 March and is expected to be completed in March 2009. Three narrower lanes and a 50mph speed limit remain in place throughout the work.
There are two remaining full overnight closures, 14 and 15 October to install gantries on the newly widened, but not yet open, carriageway. Diversion routes will be fully signed.
M27 J11-12
The new climbing lanes opened 01 September 2008 two months ahead of schedule. Landscaping will continue into November with hardshoulder closures.
A3 Wooden Bridge
Works to the A3 north and southbound carriageway began on 4 August and are expected to be complete by the end of November.
The existing lighting columns will be removed from the central reserve and new lighting columns will be installed on the northbound and southbound verges, from the hospital interchange to the footway/rail bridge known as Wooden Bridge.
Work will be undertaken in shifts throughout the day and night and there will be overnight lane closures on the north and southbound carriageways. During the lane closures there will be a 50mph speed limit for the safety of road users and the workforce.
There will be a maximum of 10 Saturday overnight full carriageway closures and a number of slip road closures will also be required. Drivers will need to follow the signed diversions at these times.
A3 Hindhead
The major works for the Hindhead Tunnel scheme, opening in 2011, have cones starting north of A3 Thursley junction at the north end nearest to Guildford along with a 40mph speed limit. At the south end there is a 50mph limit starting south of the A3 Liphook junction, reducing to 40mph at Hammer Lane.
A34 Wolvercote Viaduct
Work to replace Wolvercote Viaduct continues. There is a 40mph speed limit in place for two narrow lanes running northbound on the A34. The speed limit is in place for the protection of road users and road workers. Currently there is no traffic management southbound on the A34.
We ask drivers to take care when approaching the works, note the various roadwork signs and drive to the conditions.”
The A40, that runs under the viaduct, has a narrower lane running in each direction with a 30mph speed limit and off-peak temporary traffic lights at times. The northside cycleway has been temporally diverted to the southside and a signalized crossing is in place.
