Lombard has won the business to provide the light commercial vehicle fleet for building products supplier Jewson and other parts of Saint-Gobain, the global leader in design, production and distribution of materials for the construction, manufacturing and consumer markets. Lombard and Jewson have had a successful relationship for 10 years, with Lombard providing the 3,000-strong car fleet.

The LCV fleet requirement includes specialist vehicles ranging from standard panel vans to dropsides, Lutons with tail-lifts and glass carriers, delivered in a variety of colours and liveries to support Jewson, Graham, Solaglas and other Saint-Gobain businesses. Lombard is working in partnership with LDV to supply all 600 units, which are being run over three to five-year leases with full maintenance on not only the vehicles but also the tail-lift equipment.

“One of the key factors in Lombard’s success was the long-term relationships built over many years of working closely with the Jewson and Saint-Gobain transport team,” says Denis Wellfare, Jewson’s Transport Director. “Lombard support us with strong pro-active account management at all levels, which is essential. They work quickly and effectively to satisfy all of our requirements and give us huge confidence that they can deliver consistent competitive pricing and high levels of customer service.”

The deal was handled by Lombard Director of Strategic Accounts Martin Rogers in collaboration with the company’s award-winning Van Sales Unit.

With over 500 branches across the country, Jewson is the UK’s leading supplier of timber and building products to the trade and general public. As well as being timber and building suppliers, Jewson has specialist landscaping, joinery, tool hire, kitchen and bathroom centres. Saint-Gobain has more than 40 businesses in the UK and Ireland, including Saint-Gobain Glass, British Gypsum and Saint-Gobain Pipelines, employing more than 20,000 people.
