Lloyds TSB Autolease Drives Home Tyre Safety Message
Lloyds TSB Autolease is bringing added value to its fleet customers by forging relationships with leading suppliers to promote tyre safety and introduce cost savings.
As one of the UK’s leading fleet management and funding specialists, Lloyds TSB Autolease has been working with ATS Euromaster and Michelin to host Tyre Awareness Days for a cross section of its fleet customers.
George Reid, Head of Technical Services at Lloyds TSB Autolease, said, “Our customers value the knowledge, experience and expertise our suppliers are able to impart and events such as the Tyre Awareness Days directly help to bring down fleet costs.”
A recent event held at a specialist vehicle testing facility in the West Midlands – MIRA’s Proving Ground – provided a mixture of theory and practice for attending fleet managers, with some surprising results.
Emma Goodare, Vehicle Manager of the 400 strong Innserve Limited fleet, stated, “Hearing in detail about the issues then experiencing their effect on the track was a real eye-opener. I knew in theory, of course, that under inflation is dangerous. But when I was given the chance to compare the difference it makes to braking distance and handling on the track, I was instantly converted. It’s really given me an incentive to re-emphasise the safety aspects to our fleet, which is mostly commercial vehicles. I have already downloaded the ATS Essential Glove Box Guide on tyre safety and sent it to all our drivers, as well as putting it into all the starter packs. Having ordered a tread depth gauge, I also plan to keep a close eye on things. What’s very important is our duty of care to our drivers; we have to show them that it is a critical part of our fleet operation, and that we are going to make sure they comply with it. We have been working with Lloyds TSB Autolease for over two years now, and this type of information, support and service is one of several ways that they enhance my job.”
ATS Euromaster was recently awarded a three-year contract to fit Michelin replacement tyres suppliers to the Lloyds TSB Autolease fleet. Under the agreement, Lloyds TSB Autolease customers will predominantly use ATS Euromaster’s nationwide network of 470 service centres and fleet of mobile service vehicles to fit their replacement tyres at home or place of work.
