Hitachi Capital drives for growth with strategic acquisition
Leading finance and fleet management services company Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions has acquired The Driving Instructor Centre Ltd.
Based in Leicester, The Driving Instructor Centre (incorporating Robinson’s Garage) provides contract hire vehicles to driving instructors and driving schools. The company employs 52 people with a turnover of approximately £10m. Managing Director, Mark West will remain with the company, reporting directly to Simon Oliphant, Chief Executive at Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions.
The agreement to acquire The Driving Instructor Centre further broadens Hitachi Capital’s offering whose services currently include fleet funding, maintenance management, accident management and daily rental management.
“The acquisition is part of a strategic growth plan by Hitachi Capital, and provides us with a niche business, which complements our own activities,” says Oliphant. “Despite the tough general economic outlook, we remain committed to growing the business in the UK and believe our Japanese parentage will provide us with the stability required to support our customers through the challenges we all face.”
