A38 Saltash Tunnel overnight maintenance

The Saltash Tunnel will be closed overnight on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 January, from 8pm to 6am the following morning, for essential works.

The tunnel, which carries around 30,000 vehicles per day, will undergo work to make sure that it remains safe and in good condition for drivers. Work includes cleaning the walls, signs and lights and carrying out essential checks and repairs of the lane control system and other equipment.

During the closure, east and westbound traffic will be diverted via North Road, Saltash and the South Pill slip road.

The Highways Agency has scheduled all the work to be done overnight to keep disruption for drivers to a minimum, when there is less traffic. Every effort will be made to minimise the effects of noise and vibration.

The next overnight maintenance closure will take place on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 April 2009.
