New Managing Agent Contractor appointed for Highways Agency area 7 in the East Midlands

The Highways Agency, which is responsible for operating, maintaining and improving England’s motorways and trunk roads, has appointed a Managing Agent Contractor (MAC) for the East Midlands.

The new MAC is A-One+ which is a joint venture of consultant Halcrow, and contractors Costain and Colas.

Under the five year , A-One+ will carry out a range of operational and routine maintenance services and deliver improvements on the motorways and trunk roads in the East Midlands. This covers the motorways and trunk roads in the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland.

The contract, worth a total of £220 million, will include new Incident Support vehicles. These larger vehicles will provide faster delivery of traffic management cones and signs to incidents and provide impact protection to the incident scene.

The new arrangements will come into effect from 1 July 2009.
