£3.8 million upgrade to provide safer and quieter journeys for drivers in North Lincolnshire
Drivers on the A180 in North Lincolnshire will benefit from safer and quieter journeys as the Highways Agency announce a £3.8m project to renew the carriageway surface.
The work will begin on Saturday 3 January and will improve over 1.5 miles (2.4km) on the westbound A180 from Croxton to Ulceby.
The scheme will include overlaying the existing concrete carriageway with low noise surfacing, and improving drainage, safety fence, road markings and road studs.
During the work there will be a full closure of the westbound carriageway, with traffic running in contraflow, providing one lane in each direction on the eastbound carriageway. Wide loads will be held in bays and guided through the contraflow by a system of traffic lights. A 50mph speed limit in will be in place for the duration of the works. The work will be completed on 19 March.
Highways Agency project manager, Steven Wright, said: “The work will provide a safer and quieter surface along this stretch of the A180 which will benefit both drivers and nearby communities. The work will also improve safety fencing, and provide better road markings and drainage”.
Moderate delays are expected and drivers are advised to allow extra time and to plan their journeys. Drivers can get up-to-the-minute travel information by accessing http://www.highways.gov.uk or by tuning into the Highways Agency’s Traffic Radio, available on DAB digital radio and at http://www.trafficradio.org.uk.
