Jaama looks to expand public sector conquest after delivering web-based solutions to Luton Borough Council
Fleet software company, Jaama is predicting significant public sector and ‘blue light’ fleet demand for its web-based Key2 Vehicle Management system after supplying the technology to Luton Borough Council.
Following a major implementation phase, the authority’s system went live towards the end of last year.
Online flexibility, the imminent availability of touch screen technology, in depth management reporting and across-department integration and accessibility were all key reasons behind Luton Borough Council’s decision to install Key2 to manage its entire 580-strong fleet of vehicles and plant equipment, including fuel usage and vehicle rental, as well as its workshops, stores and parts.
Luton Borough Council transport manager Don Allison said: “The ease of use of the system is incredible considering that it is so comprehensive. We spent a lot of time with Jaama developing the technology to meet our requirements and that work can also benefit other public sector fleets.
“Considering the wide range of applications that we use Key2 for and the management and reporting detail available, our training needs were a lot less than anticipated.”
Such has been the ‘revolution’ in fleet management within Luton Borough Council as a result of Mr Allison’s decision to introduce Jaama’s technology that he is now recommending the technology to other organisations.
Dedicated to the promotion of best practice among local authority and ‘blue light’ fleets, Mr Allison said: “Ourselves and other public sector fleets increasingly want to utilise web-based or web-portal software systems and that is where Jaama is scoring.
“We are very pleased at the development work that has been put into the system and, having gone live, the technology will vastly improve efficiencies across our entire fleet operation. I believe that Jaama’s technology can also improve fleet operations among other public sector fleets.
“Local authorities typically operate a very diverse mix of vehicles and plant and continue to service, maintain and repair vehicles through their own workshops. We wanted to link all this together and also enable council officers across a range of departments to access data on vehicles, plant and machinery as well as drivers.
“Jaama was not only able to meet all these requirements, but also able to meet some bespoke requirements.”
Jaama is already handling a stream of inquiries from public sector fleets as a result of installing the Key2 system at Luton Borough Council and delivering similar fleet management solutions to Hertfordshire County Council and the British Transport Police.
Jaama managing director Jason Francis explained: “We anticipate public sector fleets, including ‘blue light’ organisations, to be a growing part of our customer base.
“The online functionality delivered by the Key2 product range is extremely broad and enables such fleets to manage their wide range of vehicles as well as workshops on one system. As well as transportation, the technology also enables health and safety issues surrounding drivers, for example, time worked, to be easily monitored and controlled.
“Public sector fleet requirements are becoming increasingly complex, driven by an ever-growing need to control costs and improve efficiencies. Key2 Vehicle Management enables those demands to be met at the operational level and management to easily drill into data to access whatever detailed reports are required.
“We have worked extremely closely with Luton Borough Council to further develop our software to meet their specific requirements. We believe the sophisticated management solutions that the authority is now benefiting from can bring similar efficiency improvements to other public sector fleets.”
Other major Jaama customers include: BCA, DHL Express, Sheffield Insulation Group, Steria, Fleet Hire, Newton Vehicle Rentals, Phones 4U and Advantage Incident Management.
