Mark Cameron appointed Sales and Marketing Director, Mazda UK
Mazda Motors UK has brought the two functions of sales and marketing together under Mark Cameron who has been promoted to Sales and Marketing Director effective 1st March. This reflects the recent restructure of the sales and marketing functions at Mazda Motor Europe, with both departments now reporting to Philip Waring, Chief Operating Officer.
Mark Cameron took on the role of sales director in October 2008 from the role of marketing director, a position he had held since July 2005. Prior to that, Mark had spent five months responsible for Mazda’s product strategy in the UK as brand manager, following a move from Ford Motor Company.
“Over three years as marketing director, Mark strengthened the perception of the Zoom-Zoom brand with levels of purchase consideration reaching a record high in 2008,” commented Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director, Mazda Motors UK. “This was achieved through an innovative mix of marketing communications with a strong emphasis on experiential marketing, sponsorship and digital media.

“Since moving to the role of sales director, Mark has delivered outstanding results despite market conditions. We closed out 2008 with a record passenger car market share for Mazda in the UK at 2.3 percent. And so far in 2009 we have already achieved our best-ever start to a year reaching a record passenger car market share of 2.7 percent, as well as our best-ever February volume.
“As we move into even more difficult trading conditions, Mark’s main priority will be to continue to promote the brand to achieve both higher footfall in dealerships and higher levels of purchase consideration, while ensuring dealers remain profitable and productive to further strengthen Mazda’s position in the UK market. Recent organisational changes in Mazda Europe have allowed us to mirror the structure that has been adopted there and realise operational efficiencies in a tough climate.”
