aa-fuel-assist-imageLombard Vehicle Management is supplying the with a dedicated of AA Fuel Assist vans to help motorists with the increasing problem of putting incorrect fuel into their vehicles. The AA estimates that at least 150,000 motorists misfuel their vehicles every year – one every three minutes.

Twenty LDV Maxus vans will be delivered by the end of March to supplement an initial tranche of 20 vans and pick-ups with a prototype specification which has already supplied. Around 10 different suppliers are involved in meeting the AA’s build specification, with co-ordinating the supply chain.

The AA Fuel Assist vans are the latest element in a long-term relationship which has seen Lombard provide a wide variety of vehicles to the AA. Lombard currently supplies around 2400 of The AA’s iconic yellow roadside assistance and recovery vehicles, plus flat-bed recovery trucks, AA Signs vans, point-of-sale vans, driving school cars and company cars.

The companies’ mutual benefit is underlined by the fact that Lombard has just appointed the AA as its accident management provider.

“Millions of motorists depend on the AA, and Lombard is a dependable partner,” says the AA’s Steve Sharpe, Manager Fleet and Recovery. “The AA has unique requirements, with complicated build specifications involving specialist equipment and requiring good supply chain management. Lombard understands that process, is flexible and offers competitive funding. It’s an excellent working relationship.”
