Alford Renault Premium Additions A First

Alford Traffic Services the Lincolnshire based bulk haulage operator, has made a recent addition to its 35-strong mixed in the shape of four new Euro 5 Renault Premium 450.25s, with Optidriver gearboxes, that have been fitted with tipping gear. This addition was made due to a new contract with Drax PowerStation and was an important deal for distributor, Thompson Commercials Grimsby as they are the first Renaults to be bought by the company.

Alison Randall, Director, Alford Traffic Services, cited cost and fuel consumption as key purchase factors: “When comparing the Renault Premiums with Scania, Mercedes and Volvo, we found that Renault came out on top for cost and was comparable on fuel consumption. We recently acquired a depot at Lincoln with an existing fleet of 17 vehicles, three of which are Renault Premiums, and we have been very pleased with the performance and fuel efficiency of these vehicles. It’s early days yet and we will be monitoring the fuel consumption of the new Premiums, as well as support and backup received but, as well as the two on order, we would certainly consider more Renaults in the future based on our experience so far.”
