North East roadworks update – 16 May – 22 May
A1M Junctions 58 to 59, County Durham
Slight delays are expected on the A1M between Junctions 58 and 59 due to bridge repairs. There will be a contraflow with narrow lanes both north and southbound and a 50mph speed limit. Restrictions will be in place 24 hours. The works are scheduled until October.
A1M Junction 61, County Durham
Slight delays are expected on the A1 between Junction 60 and 61 for road works. There will be contraflow in place north and southbound 24 hrs a day. The works will last until June.
A1M Junction 64, County Durham
Slight delays are expected overnight on the A1M at Junction 64 for survey works. There will be one lane open north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 17-19 May.
A1 Newcastle Gateshead Western Bypass
Slight delays are expected overnight on the A1 at the Lobley Hill Interchange for roadworks. There will be one lane open north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 18-22 May.
A1 Newcastle Gateshead Western Bypass
Moderate delays are expected overnight on the A1 from the Gateshead Quays Interchange to the Kenton Bar Interchange for roadworks. There will a carriageway closure with diversion route in place north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 17 – 19 May.

Slight delays are expected overnight on the A1 at the Denton Burn Interchange for roadworks. There will be one lane open north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 18-20 May.
A1 Newcastle Gateshead Western Bypass
Slight delays are expected at the Lobley Hill Interchange for road works. There will be one lane open on the slip roads between 7.30am and 7.30pm. The works will take place 17 May.
A1 Morpeth Bypass, Northumberland
Slight delays are expected overnight on the A1 at the Morpeth Bypass for roadworks. There will be one lane open north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 16 May.
A1 Wansbeck Viaduct, Northumberland
Slight delays are expected on the A1 at the Wansbeck Viaduct for roadworks. There will be one lane open north and southbound between 7am and 4.30pm. The works will take place until July.
A1 Junction 49 to 50, North Yorkshire
Slight delays are expected overnight on the A1 from the Baldersby Interchange to the Dishforth Interchange for road works. There will be one lane open north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place until June.
A1 High Brough Moor, Northumberland
Slight delays are expected overnight on the A1 at High Brough Moor for roadworks. There will be contraflow in operation between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place until 22 May.
A1 Marshall Meadows, Northumberland
Slight delays are expected on the A1 at the Scottish Border for roadworks. There will be a one lane open north and southbound between 9.30am and 3.30pm. The works will take place 18-21 May.
A1 Causey Park to Old Swarland, Northumberland
Slight delays are expected overnight on the A1 from Causey Park to Old Swarland for roadworks. There will be a one lane open north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place from 18 May until June.
A1 / A19 Seaton Burn, North Tyneside
Slight delays are expected overnight on the A1 and A19 at Seaton Burn Interchange for roadworks. There will be one lane open east and westbound on the A19, and on the north and southbound exit slips of the A1. The works will take place between 8pm and 6am until 22 May. There will also be a 40mph speed restriction in place 24 hrs a day.
A19 Holystone Interchange, North Tyneside
Slight delays are expected on the A19 at Holystone interchange for roadworks. There will be one lane open on the north and southbound exit slip roads between 9.30am and 3.30pm. The works will take place until June. There will also be overnight closures 8pm to 6am 14-16 May.
A66 Cumbrian Border to Spittal Hill
Slight delays are expected on the A66 from the Cumbrian Border to Spittal Hill for roadworks. There will be one lane open east and westbound between 8am and 6pm. The works will take place 18-21 May.
A66 Eaglescliffe, County Durham
Slight delays are expected overnight on the A66 between Eaglescliffe and Surtees Bridge for roadworks. There will be one lane open east and westbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place until 22 May.
