A21 Riverhead Bridge Refurbishment
The A21 in Kent will be restricted overnight at times from next week, due to maintenance work on the A25 Riverhead bridge, between junction 5 of the M25 and the A21 Morleys Interchange (A21 with the A225) near Sevenoaks. Works start on 8 June for twelve weeks.
Work will be carried out on the bridge deck and the underside will be reinforced with concrete. The work will help maintain safety levels on this section of road.
For the safety of road users and the workforce, for the first six weeks, the London-bound carriageway of the A21 between Morleys Interchange (with the A225) and Riverhead bridge will be closed overnight between 20.00 and 06.00. London-bound road users will be diverted to the A225 via the A224 and A25 to rejoin the A21 at Bessels Green.
For the second six weeks, overnight lane closures will be in place on the coastbound A21 at Sevenoaks Bypass
For four weeks in the twelve-week programme, there will be overnight lane closures across the bridge on the A25 Westerham Road.
There will be a 50mph speed limit in place for the duration of the overnight works.
