A3 Farnham road bridge Guildford overnight maintenance

Maintenance work on the A3 Farnham Road bridge starts on 16 June for approximately 15 weeks. The scheme will maintain the upkeep of the bridge carrying the A31 over the A3.

To enable the work to be carried out safely, the A3 will have both overnight lane closures and some full overnight carriageway closures.

For the full overnight carriageway closures, which are to raise and dismantle scaffolding, there will be fully signed diversions in operation.

When the southbound A3 is closed overnight, traffic will be diverted via Stag Hill Guildford (University/Cathedral junction) to the A31 and then back onto the A3/A31..

When the A3 northbound is closed overnight, traffic will be diverted off at the B3000 Puttenham/Compton interchange to join the A31 and then back onto the A3.

Highways Agency project manager Steve Cobb said:

“The Highways Agency is committed to helping road users make their journeys safer and more reliable. These bridge works will ensure the structure of the bridge is well maintained. We are carrying out this work off-peak to keep delays to drivers to a minimum, and we ask drivers to take care when approaching roadworks.’
