Peugeot 308 breaking MPG records

The so-called ‘Fuel Fugitives’ are in hiding and the French carmaker Peugeot is launching a campaign to find them after the couple travelled 3,700.1 miles around the UK on only 29.1 gallons of diesel, which gave an average economy of 126.8mpg! A figure officially recognised by the Guiness Book of Records.

Touring the extermities of the UK in a Peugeot 308 SR the ‘fuel fugitives’ have been apparently driving into fuel stations to buy everything but diesel on all but four occasions. The 3700 miles cost just £136.24 or 3.6p per mile

Fleet Sales Director, Phil Robson, commented: “For a while now we’ve been telling customers that our low-CO2 Peugeot vehicles are therefore very economical and fuel efficient, but I have to say, even I am very impressed by this achievement.  This fully illustrates the potential savings by driving and purchasing wisely.  Whoever was driving them needs hiring quickly, as a fleet with them at the wheel is going far!”
