MG Fest 09
MG Fest 09 is back at the Heritage Motor Museum for a second year, with a few changes to keep things interesting. Most importantly, this previously F/TF focused event will, for the first time, be a truly modern MG event, run in partnership with the Z Register and opening its doors to a whole new breed of MG enthusiasts.
Saturday will focus on a road run, which will take in part of one of the original 1995 MGF press route. Along for the ride will be several of the 95 press cars, and a few other very special MGs.
Saturday night is all about the music, featuring Phoenix, and Tribute to the Blues Brothers plus the usual madness; MG Fest real ale, the Glow car competition, and quite possibly some air guitar from previously well respected members of the MG community!
Sunday is Show Day, with a full day of competitions, both silly and serious, Try driving the reverse steer MGF round a tight course of cones, show off your skills in the gymkhana, or just watch from the sidelines as the serious competitors battle it out to win some silverware.
Music is still a big focus of the event, and there will be sets throughout the day on the outdoor stage, with some new and emerging bands, and some familiar faces from last year.
Visitors will have a free pass to the museum itself on Sunday, and as well as the opportunity to have a wander round the displays, MG Fest has also arranged for some famous names in the MG world to provide a series of lectures. Roger Parker and Rob Bell are definites, and we have a few other s up our sleeves.
A high point of Sunday is likely to be the Mobility Scooter Grand Prix, where teams use their wits, skill and native cunning to be first past the post..there is also likely to be an element of cheating! Regional groups are always in the thick of the action, with themed display areas (prizes for the most creative!) and some very competitive team games..probably more cheating, and certainly a lot of water…
Tickets are available from the Heritage Motor Museum www.heritage-motor-museum.co.uk. Prices start at £11 for an adult day ticket on Sunday.
Camping on site is available, or a list of local hotels can be provided for those who prefer their creature comforts.
