M56 Junction 7 Bowdon View Bridge Replacement Scheme: update
The Bowdon View Bridge, linking junction 7 of the M56 and the A556, will continue to be closed to traffic as a precaution while the Highways Agency carries out further investigations on the bridge structure. Investigations have now reached an advanced stage and it is anticipated that the bridge is likely to be open again to traffic in the near future.
A motorway slip lane normally reserved for traffic heading to the bridge has been opened to motorists travelling through junction 7 on the Westbound mainline carriageway adding extra capacity. A clearly signed diversion is also in place; to join the A556 Southbound from the M56 Westbound you would exit the M56 Junction 10, join the M56 travelling Eastbound, leaving at junction 9 to join the M6 South (towards Birmingham). At junction 19 of the M6, leave to pick up the A556.
