Lombard To Supply Fleet For Major New Client
Lombard Vehicle Management (LVM), one of the largest specialised vehicle management company’s in the UK, has been appointed by ERH Communications, a leading supplier of motorway and trunk road communications services to supply a fleet of around 150 vans, principally Mercedes-Benz Vito and Sprinter and Vauxhall Combo models, and cars, estates and other variants, between now and 2011.
Around 15 are being leased back. All will be run on contract hire, with gap insurance provided, but over a mix of 24 and 36 months depending on how usage develops – mileage is being pooled and LVM will meet ERH every six months to assess every vehicle and schedule the agreement accordingly.
“We previously purchased our vehicles, which travel all over the UK and can accumulate a very high mileage,” says ERH Communications managing director Geoff Smith. “Much of our work involves roadside maintenance which is often scheduled overnight to minimise disruption, so we in turn have to minimise the risk of an ageing or high-mileage vehicle breaking down. We have therefore taken the leasing route, which with the level of back-up and flexibility provided by Lombard gives us a worry-free solution. We now also have a very smart fleet.
