Weekly Summary of Roadworks in M25 Sphere – 09/09/2009

A1(M) Hatfield Tunnel
Work to refurbish the A1(M) Hatfield Tunnel continues this week. The second phase of the two-year refurbishment started in July. During this stage, which is expected to be completed in May 2010, the northbound tunnel will be closed and a two lane contra-flow with narrow lanes with a 40mph speed limit 24 hours a day will operate on the southbound carriageway. Drivers should expect moderate delays during this phase. A free recovery service is available.
M25 Junction 16 to Junction 18
Work to widen this section of the M25 to four lanes in each direction continues this week. Three narrow lanes in each direction will be available during busy times, with off peak lane closures as required, mostly overnight. A 50mph speed restriction is in place between junctions 16 and 18 that will operate 24 hours a day until May 2010. A free recovery service is available.
M25 Junction 27-30
Work to widen M25 between junctions 27 and 28 to four lanes is taking place, with three narrow lanes in each direction available during busy times, with off peak lane closures as required, mostly overnight. A 50mph speed limit is in place. A free recovery service is available. Between 23:00 and 06:00 on Friday 11 September the M11 link roads from both northbound and southbound onto the M25 clockwise carriageway will be closed with traffic diverted to J26 of the M25 and back.
M25 Bell Common Tunnel (Junctions 26 to 27) Work to refurbish Bell Common Tunnel between junctions 26 and 27 of the M25 started in October 2008, and is expected to be complete in March 2010. There are 3 narrow lanes in operation with a 40mph speed limit 24 hours a day. There will also be overnight additional lane closures, and the hard shoulder will be closed. A free recovery service is in place.
M25 Ramp Metering
Work to calibrate traffic lights on the M25 Junction 10 clockwise slip road continues this week. Once commissioned, this will ensure an improved flow of traffic onto the motorway.
A1(M) Ramp Metering
Work to install and calibrate traffic lights on the A1(M) at junction 6 southbound slip road continues this week. Once commissioned, this will ensure an improved flow of traffic onto the motorway.
A3/A309 Hook Interchange
Major maintenance work on the A3 Esher Bypass between Clayton Bridge and the TfL boundary near Hook Interchange continue this week with completion due November 2009. There will be 24 hour working, with off peak lane closures and some overnight carriageway and slip road closures. There will be a temporary 40mph speed limit in force throughout the work. Slight delays are expected.
M25 junction 24 near Potters Bar
Overnight safety improvement works at junction 24 of the M25 started 10 August 2009. The work will be carried out between the hours of 10.00pm to 05.30 am Monday to Friday, from 11.00pm until 07.00am Friday to Saturday, 10.00pm until 07.00am Saturday to Sunday and 10.30pm to 05.30am Sunday to Monday, and are planned for completion September 2009. There will be occasional slip road closures, and there will be a 50mph speed limit on the main carriageway during the works.
A13 Baker Street
The northbound A1089 link road to the A13 will be closed overnight from 10.00pm to 5.30 am for 5 nights from Monday 14 September 09 until Friday 18 September 09 and from 11.00pm until 5.30am from Friday 18 September 09 until Saturday 19 September 09 for safety improvements. A diversion will be fully signposted.
A13 Baker Street
The northbound A1089 link road to the A13 will be closed overnight from 10.00pm to 5.30 am for 5 nights from Monday 21 September 09 until Friday 25 September 09 and from 11.00pm until 5.30am from Friday 25 September 09 until Saturday 26 September 09 for safety improvements. A diversion will be fully signposted.
A282 junction 1a
Both carriageways of the overbridge at junction 1A will be closed overnight from 10.00pm to 5.00 am for 3 nights from Thursday 10 September 09 until Sunday 13 September 09 for resurfacing works. The closure will start at 11.00pm on Friday 11 September. A diversion will be fully signposted.
M25 Junction 14 and Heathrow Terminal 5 The anti clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight (10.00pm to 5.30am) from Wednesday 23 September 09 until Thursday 24 September 09 for signal repair works. A diversion will be fully signposted
M25 Junction 17
The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight (10.00pm to 5.00am) for 4 nights from Tuesday 15 September 09 until Friday 18 September 09 and from 11.00pm to 5.00am from Friday 18 September 09 until Saturday 19 September 09 for bridge beam installation works. A diversion will be fully signposted.
M25 Junction 18
The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight (10.00pm to 5.30am) for 4 nights from Tuesday 15 September 09 until Friday 18 September 09 and from 11.00pm until 5.30am from Friday 18 September 09 until Saturday 19 September 09 for bridge beam installation works. A diversion will be fully signposted.
M25 Junction 29
The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight (11.00pm to 5.30am) for 4 nights from Monday 14 September 09 until Friday 18 September 09 for vegetation clearance widening works.. A diversion will be fully signposted.
M25 Junction 7 link roads
The anti clockwise link roads to the M23 southbound and northbound will be closed overnight (10.00pm to 5.30am) from Saturday 12 September 09 until Sunday 13 September 09 for installation of traffic detector loops and studding works. A diversion will be fully signposted.
M4 Junction 3 to junction 1
The eastbound carriageway between junction 3 and junction 1 will be closed overnight (09.00pm to 06.00am) for 4 nights from Monday 14 September 09 until Friday 18 September 09 for routine maintenance works. A diversion will be fully signposted.
M4 Junction 1 to junction 3
The westbound carriageway between junction 1 and junction 3 will be closed overnight (09.00pm to 06.00am) for 4 nights from Monday 21 September 09 until Friday 25 September 09 for routine maintenance works. A diversion will be fully signposted.
