Inchcape Supports Brake And Road Safety Week 2009
Inchcape Fleet Solutions, supplier of a wide-range of risk management solutions to fleet customers, has, in the build up to Road Safety Week 2009, which takes place from November 23-29 signed up as a corporate donor to road safety charity Brake to further promote the importance of occupational road risk management.
Inchcape Fleet Solutions, which operates a UK-wide fleet of 50,000 vehicles, already offers fleet drivers of company cars and vans as well as own-car users, the so-called ‘grey’ fleet risk management solutions such as online Driver Licence Verification Service, driver risk assessments, vehicle document checking and additional classroom, e-learning and on-road driver training.
With an estimated 200 road deaths and serious injuries a week result from crashes involving at work drivers the importance of becoming a Brake corporate donor is not lost on Inchcape and will further aid the promotion of road safety in the work place with Inchcape planning to hold a wide ranging series of events with staff and customers to increase occupational road risk management awareness.
As a corporate donor Inchcape Fleet Solutions will have unlimited access to Brake’s Fleet Safety Forum, which provides road safety resources to fleet managers, and Brake Professionals scheme, which gives access to an online information-packed road safety library. Inchcape Fleet Solutions’ employees will also be able to attend free educational sessions held regionally by Brake, which are aimed at raising road safety awareness.
Inchcape Fleet Solutions’ managing director Terry Bartlett said: “We share Brake’s determination to make the roads safer for at-work driving employees and all other road users. Joining Brake as a corporate donor not only means we are helping to fund a very worthwhile cause, but we will be able to use a wide range of the charity’s resources to promote road safety to our clients.
“It is not only important that fleets ensure they are compliant with all legislation relating to at-work driving, but that they understand the ethical and financial benefits that accrue from implementing a comprehensive risk management programme. Brake can help Inchcape Fleet Solutions spread that message.”
Brake fund raising officer Helen Mervill said: “We are delighted to be working with Inchcape Fleet Solutions; jointly promoting life-saving road safety messages and encouraging best practice in fleet management.
“Brake is very much dependent on the generosity of companies who share our determination to make the roads safer for their employees, clients and all other road users and who value our support service for road crash victims.”
Companies can choose to promote this year’s Road Safety Week theme of ‘Not a drop, Not a drag’ or any other road safety theme of their choice that is appropriate to their business with further information available at www.roadsafetyweek.org
