One in ten vans sold is a Citroen van
The latest new vehicle sales figures have been released today by the SMMT, and while the LCV market is still depressed – showing a 22% decline, at least one manufacturer is pretty happy with their September sales performance. During September Citroen performed strongly with an overall market share of 9.74%.

In fact the company virtually matched its September 2008 volume, finishing down by just 9 registrations!
Robert Handyside, Citroen’s commercial vehicles operations manager, commented, “The September sales figures demonstrate that Citroen’s overall LCV package is ultra-competitive in today’s van market. Citroen has the UK’s most modern LCV range – with its associated fuel efficiency and emissions benefits – which puts the Company in an extremely strong position. With the extension of the Government’s ‘Scrappage’ programme, and new LCV developments in the pipeline, Citroen intends to build upon its September sales success.”
In achieving its total 2,876 registrations, all four core Citroen LCV ranges performed strongly:-
- Nemo 453 registrations (15.75% of total sales)
- Berlingo 1,430 registrations (49.72% of total sales)
- Dispatch 479 registrations (16.66% of total sales)
- Relay 501 registrations (17.42% of total sales)
With the age of qualifying vans now reduced to 8 years for the remainder of the scrappage scheme, now is the best time to get your hands on a new LCV.
