Motorists would slow down to save planet

Nearly two thirds of motorists would happily slow down in order to reduce their Co2 emissions according to a survey by .

A new poll by the car supermarket giant found 63% of drivers would willingly ease their foot of the accelerator in an effort to do their bit for the environment. Some 1,616 people took part in the week-long study at www.motorpoint.co.uk.

Recent studies have shown that people who drive at 60mph rather than 70mph on the motorway will typically reduce CO2 emissions by 20g/km (equivalent to a saving of around 10p per litre on fuel).

Says David Shelton, Managing Director of Motorpoint: “The results of our survey show that people are genuinely concerned about the environment and are more than willing to make sacrifices in order to do their bit for the planet.”
