Remarkable Blind artist first to preview all-new Volvo S60
No one has seen the all-new S60, Volvo’s most exciting car to date, until it is launched next year. But this autumn Volvo offered an exclusive preview of the car to a blind artist with remarkable skills: Eşref Armağan. Volvo invited Mr Armağan to their headquarters in Gothenburg. He had glided the car with his hands in order to mentally visualise and paint it.
Mr Armağan was born blind and grew up in Turkey without receiving any formal education. Yet over the past 40 years he has taught himself how to paint and draw in perspective. He does so by touching objects with his hands and picturing them in his mind, stunning scientists worldwide.

Peter Horbury, Chief Designer at Volvo, says that the all-new S60 is the next step in Volvo design: “The new S60 is different from all other Volvos so far. We have created a sculpted form that really touches the emotions.”
