Half price subscription to Fleet Safety Forum to mark Road Safety Week

charity Brake is offering a huge 50 per cent discount on new subscriptions to its not-for-profit service, the , to mark this year’s national Road Safety Week, 23-29 November 2009.

The Forum exists to support in managing their road risk, thereby helping to avoid the 748 deaths and 6,150 serious injuries that occur each year involving at-work drivers and vehicles.

Companies take note, the Traffic Commissioners of Great Britain have lent their public support to Road Safety Week in an open letter sent to the charity on 15th October 2009  by the Senior Traffic Commissioner, Philip Brown, in which they asked operators to remind themselves and their drivers of the potential impact of any failures on the victims of road traffic incidents and to manage their safety systems effectively. A subscription to the Fleet Safety Forum can help operators to do so.

Subscribers receive regular mailings and e-bulletins containing essential research, guidance and awareness-raising resources to help them educate their drivers and improve the safety of their fleet. Not only does guidance address the issues of drink and drug driving, in line with this year’s Road Safety Week theme, but it covers a huge range of topics including ‘selling’ fleet safety to the board, safe vehicle maintenance, implementing travel plans, and much more.

Subscribers also get discounted access to ’s programme of workshops and other events, and access to the charity’s online Road Safety Exchange, containing a wealth of resources, advice and links to useful information. In addition subscribers get access to free training in the Pledge2DriveSafely programme, enabling them to access and use the resources on ’s new e-learning platform aimed at company drivers, www.pledge2drivesafely.org.

Subscription normally costs £155 + VAT per year. From Road Safety Week until Christmas 2009, this will be reduced, for new subscriptions, to just £77.50 + VAT.

Road Safety Week (November 23 – 29) is co-ordinated by the road safety charity Brake and supported by the Department for Transport and sponsors 3M and Alcosense. This year’s theme is ‘Not a drop, not a drag’, and across the country, thousands of companies, schools and community groups are taking part, alongside families  whose lives have been shattered by road crashes, to promote the Not a Drop, not a drag message.

Roz Cumming, Fleet Safety Forum Manager at Brake, says: “Road Safety Week is a high profile campaign that gets everyone thinking about what can be done to improve safety on our roads. What better time to take action by signing up to the Fleet Safety Forum. It could be your first step on the way to saving a life. Call us today and make it happen.”

Philip Brown, Senior Traffic Commissioner, says: “The resources provided by the Fleet Safety Forum are clear and easy to understand. They provide sound advice and support for operators on improving the safety of their drivers, vehicles and journeys. A key component for the toolbox of any responsible business.”

John Klee, Corporate Communications Manager at 3M, says: “We are proud to be a headline sponsor for Road Safety Week, which provides a great opportunity for organisations to reinforce road safety messages to their employees. However, road safety is a year-round issue and the Fleet Safety Forum is a great way for organisations to share best practice on an ongoing basis.”
