The Department for Transport has now approved the Highways Agency’s application to combine these speed restrictions into one permanent order and to extend the 50mph limit to the clockwise exit slip road at Junction 25.

No surprise that the limit will continue, however, the need for the limit is down to the terrible design of the southbound carriageway. Two hundred yards before entering the right hand bend and narrow lane section there is clear evidence that another line for this section had been considered or will be built in the future. The problem with the limit is the bunching and congestion caused at peek periods in this area and two or three miles before.
