Centralised used car stock buying tool saves time and money for dealer groups

A centralised used car and van stock buying tool designed to save time and money for dealer groups has been launched by motor industry e-commerce expert epyx.

Group View enables used car and van stock buyers at different locations within a dealer group to provisionally buy vehicles for sale on epyx’s 1link Disposal Network e-commerce platform, used by major fleets to sell ex-leased company cars and vans.

These purchases are then passed to the nominated central used car buying manager within the dealer group by Group View for approval before the transaction is completed, providing overall control.

Ken Trinder, head of business development for epyx, said that the new tool represented a highly efficient way for dealer groups to acquire used car stock, especially during the recession.

He explained: “Having used car stock buyers travelling the country to auctions and other sales, buying a few cars or vans at each location, is not always an efficient way of getting used car stock.

“Using 1link Disposal Network, used car stock buyers within dealer groups can set up intelligent alerts so that they are notified when vehicles that they might want to buy appear on the platform, while the Group View provides control at a dealer group level.

“It’s a solution that we believe makes a lot of sense, especially in the current climate where many dealer groups are relying on used car sales for profitability and need to source stock through a system that minimises costs and achieves excellent results.”

1link Disposal Network forms a component in the 1link cradle-to-grave fleet vehicle life cycle with e-commerce platforms covering vehicle procurement, service and maintenance, taxation and rental.
