A19 Killingworth to Wallsend road surface repair works
The Highways Agency will be carrying out road surface repair works on the A19 between Killingworth (junction with the A1056) and Wallsend (junction with the A186) to repair the surface of the road.
The work will require the closures of the A19 westbound entry slip road at Killingworth and the A19 westbound carriageway. In order to minimise the disruption to drivers work will take place at night between 8pm and 6am.
The A19 westbound entry slip road at Killingworth will be closed each night from Thursday 11 February until Saturday 13 February. Traffic wishing to travel westbound will be diverted onto the A19 eastbound to the Holystone Interchange and then A19 westbound to Killingworth.
The A19 westbound carriageway will be closed each night from Monday 15 February until Friday 19 February. Traffic wishing to travel westbound will leave the A19 at the Holystone Interchange and follow the A186 eastbound, then onto the B1322 Backworth By-pass then rejoin the A19 westbound at the Killingworth Interchange.
Highways Agency project manager, John Tasker, said: “These road works are necessary to repair damage to the road surface. We are carrying out the work at night in order to minimise the disruption to drivers and we ask drivers to take extra care when travelling along the diversion routes.”
