Energy-Saving Lighting Introduced on A27 Chichester to Arundel, West Sussex
Improved lighting for road users on part of the A27 and a reduction of energy usage and costs will be a result of work to upgrade 89 sign lights and 459 street lamps on the road from Chichester to Arundel in West Sussex.
The Highways Agency will make the improvements over five weeks from Monday 22 February. The work will take place at various locations along the A27 overnight between 8pm and 6am.
Peter Phillips, Highways Agency Route Manager for West Sussex, said:
“Improving the lighting along the A27 between Chichester and Arundel in West Sussex will provide better signage for drivers. Doing the work now will reduce maintenance needs over time.”
“This work is part of a lighting upgrade for certain roads in Sussex that also includes the A27 between Lewes and Polegate and the A259 from Pevensey to Winchelsea.”
To carry out the work and for the safety of road users, there will be narrow lanes, mobile lane closures and temporary traffic lights in operation at each location.
