Weekly Summary of Roadworks for M25 – 24/02/2010

A traffic management summary for both new and ongoing work

All dates and times subject to weather conditions

Widening

M25 Junction 16 to Junction 18

Ongoing work to widen this section of the M25 to four lanes in each direction continues this week. Three narrow lanes in each direction will be available during busy times, with off peak lane closures as required, mostly overnight. A 50mph speed restriction is in place between junctions 16 and 18 that will operate 24 hours a day until May 2010. A free recovery service is available

M25 Junction 27 to Junction 30

Ongoing work to widen M25 between junctions 27 and 28 to four lanes is taking place, with three narrow lanes in each direction available during busy times, with off peak lane closures as required, mostly overnight. A 50mph speed limit is in place. A free recovery service is available.

M25 anticlockwise to M11 Northbound Junction 27

The M25 anti clockwise link road to the M11 northbound will be closed overnight from 10.00pm to 05.30am from Monday 1 March 2010 until Saturday 6 March 2010 for construction/ improvement/upgrading works. A diversion route will be fully signposted. Moderate delays are expected.

Other motorways/trunk roads

M25 Bell Common Tunnel (Junctions 26 to 27)

Ongoing work to refurbish Bell Common Tunnel between junctions 26 and 27 of the M25 continues this week, and is expected to complete in March 2010. There are 3 narrow lanes in operation with a 40mph speed limit 24 hours a day. There will also be overnight additional lane closures and the hard shoulder will be closed. A free recovery service will be in place.

A23 Church Lane to Dean Lane

The northbound carriageway of the A23 between Dean Lane and Church Lane will be closed overnight for twelve nights from 9.00pm to 05.00am from Monday 1 March 2010 until Saturday 13 March 2010 for carriageway reconstruction and repair. Two way traffic lights will be in operation, and moderate delays are expected. The Church Lane exit to the A23 will be closed, and traffic will be diverted via Church Lane Avenue to exit at Star Lane.

A40 Junction 1

The westbound exit slip road at Junction 1 will be closed overnight from 10.00pm to 05.30am from Monday 1 March 2010 until Friday 30 April 2010 (working weekends). A diversion will be fully signposted. Moderate delays are expected.

M4 Junction 4

The westbound entry slip road at Junction 4 will be closed overnight from 10.00pm to 05.00am from Tuesday 2 March 2010 until Wednesday 3 March 2010 for white lining/road markings. A diversion will be fully signposted. Moderate delays are expected

M4/M25 links

The westbound link roads to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight from 10.00pm to 05.00am from Thursday 4 March 2010 until Friday 5 March 2010 for white lining/road markings. A diversion will be fully signposted. Moderate delays are expected

M20 Junction 2

The westbound entry slip road at Junction 2 will be closed overnight from 10.00pm to 05.00am from Thursday 4 March 2010 until Friday 5 March 2010 for drainage works. A diversion will be fully signposted. Moderate delays are expected

A1(M) Hatfield Tunnel

The Hatfield Tunnel will be closed for maintenance in both directions between junctions 3 and 4 of the A1(M) from 10pm Saturday 27 February until 5am Sunday 28 February. Signed directions will be in place via the A1001.

Ongoing work to refurbish the A1(M) Hatfield Tunnel continues this week. The second phase of the two-year refurbishment started in July. During this stage, which is due for completion in May 2010, the northbound tunnel will be closed and a two lane contraflow, with narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit 24 hours a day will operate in the southbound carriageway. Drivers should expect moderate delays during this phase. A free recovery service will be in place.
