New exhibitors at CV Operator Show
Organisers of the 2010 Commercial Vehicle Operator Show say the latest data for the event in April show that 51 of the exhibitors will be at the Show for the first time. "This is tremendous news," said Nick Jones, chief executive of the Society of Operations Engineers, one of the three Show partners. "I am delighted in the confidence shown by the vast range of suppliers and services that will be present at the Show."
Ryder spends £18m on new rental vehicles
Ryder Europe, one of the UK’s larger transport firms, says it will spend £18m on 613 new vans and trucks. The deal includes Mercedes Sprinters with panel van, fridge or Luton bodies and Daf trucks at 7.5, 12, 18 and 44 tonnes. The rigid trucks have box, curtainside or fridge bodies. Most vans and trucks have tail-lifts. The firm says the move follows "significant" spending on trucks in 2008, taking the firm’s average fleet age down to 28 months. For the first time Ryder will run 12 tonners, taking 30 box-bodied rigids on the back of demand for higher pay-loads for urban delivery work.
MiX Telematics on show
MiX Telematics will show its range of fuel saving schemes on its stand number 5025 at the CV Operator Show in April. The firm says its team of industry specialists will be there to help and tell visitors about the scale of savings its systems can deliver. As well as successes in the van and truck sectors, MiX Telematics says its products are used widely by bus and coach operators. The firm estimates it has saved its bus and coach customers more than £7m.
Arrive’n'Drive to help cut costs
The 2010 GreenFleet Arrive’n'Drive event is on 12 May at Rockingham, near Corby. The aim is to give fleet managers a chance to test drive the latest and most economical vehicles on the market. Their low fuel use will cut emissions and costs and help fleets cut their carbon footprints. Citroën, Fiat, Ford, Peugeot and VW will have their latest vans there. They and others will have cars available too. The event is free and includes all-day refreshments and a buffet lunch. Organiser Colin Boynton says he’s had a record number of vehicle makers sign up.
Chevin goes down under to grow
Derbyshire-based asset management consultancy and software house, Chevin Fleet Solutions has moved to larger, new offices on the outskirts of Sydney. The firm says it is market leader in the UK and US and wants to take advantage of growing demand for its fleet systems in Australia.
