M4 Between Junctions 13 and 14 Near Newbury, West Berkshire – Bridge Improvement Work

Work to upgrade two bridges over the between junctions 13 and 14 has started and is due to be completed by the end of March 2010.

The Highways Agency is upgrading the Westbrook Farm and Wyfield Manor Farm bridges. Improving the drainage system and repainting of the existing handrails will also be done.

For the safety of road users, there will be hard shoulder and occasional off-peak inside lane closures along the M4 between junctions 13 and 14.

Steve Cobb, Structures Project Manager for the Highways Agency, said:

”Westbrook Farm and Wyfield Manor Farm Bridges are two of several bridges over the M4 we are currently upgrading to ensure their safety for  bridge users and of road users on the M4.

“Regular maintenance reduces the likelihood of unplanned closures and resulting delays to road users.”
