Jaama’s spring seminars hit the road

Jaama, the fleet management software and risk management specialist, are hosting a series of Fleet Management Essentials seminars this spring, which will focus on fleet operating cost reductions, cutting transport carbon dioxide emissions and at-work driving safety.

The one-day seminars, prices for which have remained held at the same level for five years, appeal to a wide cross-section of full-time professional fleet decision-makers as well as administrators and managers who have the responsibility but not necessarily the experience or specialist knowledge of running a fleet of vehicles and are also applicable for fleet decision-makers who require an update on new legislation, a refresher on best practice and new developments and a crash course in effective cost management and safety issues associated with managing a vehicle fleet.

Fleet Managements Essentials seminars will be held on: Thursday, March 18 at Jaama’s head office in Tamworth; Tuesday, March 23 in Slough; Thursday, March 25 in Brentwood; Tuesday May 11 at Jaama’s head office in Tamworth; Thursday, May 13 in Leeds; and Thursday, May 20 in Reading.

Expert speakers will be in attendance to highlight best practice fleet procedures covering a number of key issues including: how to reduce fleet operating costs without impacting on operating efficiencies; fleet funding options; driver management with a key focus being on employees who drive their own cars on business – the so-called grey fleet; employers’ duty of care responsibilities towards their at-work drivers; using accident management data to reduce crash costs and insurance premiums; and fuel management and ideas for cutting petrol and diesel bills.

More than 600 people have do far attended Jaama’s fleet seminars and one delegate, Paul McKenna, director of Evolution Water Services, said: “The seminar was very informative with lots of useful information provided. It also exposed a number of areas where existing policy and procedures require amending and updating.”

And Henry Crompton, fleet administrator at Reading-based JR Pridham Services Ltd, said after attending a seminar last year: “It was very informative and gave me many ideas which I now plan to implement.”

Jaama managing director Jason Francis said: “Our entire seminar programme has proved very popular in the almost six years we have been running it, particularly with employees who combine fleet responsibility for cars and commercial vehicles with another role in their organisation as well as those who are new to vehicle management.

“The whole area of fleet management can be daunting, especially if you are new to the role or have ‘acquired’ the day-to-day running of the fleet as part of your responsibilities. In addition, we recognise and appreciate that operators of smaller or employee-owned fleets do not always have the luxury of a full time dedicated fleet manager and often new legislation and best practices can be missed.”

Delegates will be able to access a wealth of practical information and will be invited to take away documents that they can adapt to meet their own individual fleet requirements including fleet policies and driver handbooks and risk management templates and guidance.

In addition, delegates (one copy per company) will receive a complimentary copy of ‘Managing Your Company Cars – Expert Opinion’ edited by Professor Colin Tourick. The RRP of the book is £60.
