Inchcape ‘One To Watch’ in Best Companies survey

Employees of Inchcape Fleet Solutions, the Portsmouth-based vehicle leasing and fleet management specialist, have for the first time taken part in the annual staff survey by Best Companies, which has earned the company ‘One to Watch’ status in the ‘2010 Best Companies To Work For’ survey.

Inchcape Fleet Solutions, who has more than 50,000 company cars and vans on its books, was among 363 organisations to achieve ‘One to Watch’ status this year. Jonathan Austin, founder and CEO of Best Companies, said: “We would like to congratulate Inchcape Fleet Solutions on its outstanding achievement.

“An engaged workforce is essential as organisations move out of the recession and into a more stable economic situation. No doubt many organisations have tackled redundancies and rapid change in recent months. But organisations like Inchcape Fleet Solutions that have kept on engaging their staff and making sure they are involved in the business will be in a good position for the future and should be congratulated for their efforts”.

The  survey looks at employee engagement as an integral part of a company’s success and growth, and sets a benchmark for other employers. A total of 130 Inchcape Fleet Solutions’ employees responded to the Best Companies’ survey, which asked 54 key questions on workplace engagement relating to: my manager, leadership, my company, personal growth, my team, giving something back, fair deal and well being, which was the company’s highest ranking factor, measuring stress, pressure, the balance between work and home life and the impact of these factors on personal health and performance.

Having achieved ‘One to Watch’ accreditation, Inchcape Fleet Solutions is now gearing up to achieve ‘star status’ – an elite ‘Michelin style’ star rating system for organisations that demonstrate high levels of employee engagement. Inchcape Fleet Solutions’ HR director Kerry Howard said: “Achieving ‘One to Watch’ status gives us a great basis on which to build so that we can attain star status in the future.

“Continuous improvement across all areas of our business is crucial if we are to remain at the forefront of delivering customer excellence. We want to benchmark ourselves against other leading companies in all sectors of business and commerce and not just those in the fleet industry.

“Taking part in the Best Companies’ survey enables us to do that and ensure that we have in place a continuous programme of staff training and improvement to deliver first-class service to all of our customers at a consistent standard of excellence.

“Despite the tough economy over the last 18 months, we have continued to invest in our staff and provide them with opportunities to improve themselves. Happy and pro-active employees helps to ensure that we deliver the right fleet solutions to our customers.”

Inchcape Fleet Solutions will be presented with a commemorative plaque at a Best Companies’ celebration event in the spring. The survey results will also be published in The Sunday Times.
