M6 Delivering Managed Motorways traffic management update for Thursday 11, Friday 12 and Saturday 13 March February 2010

The Highways Agency will be carrying out work overnight later this week to install new overhead gantries, signs and signals as part of the expansion of the Managed Motorway scheme on the .

The overnight closure for Thursday 11 March is:

* Closure of M6 Southbound J10 exit slip road to A454.

The overnight closures for Friday 12 March are:

* Closure of the M6 Northbound J10 to J11 including the M6 exit slip road to M54 West.

* Closure of the M54 link onto the M6 South.

The overnight closures for Saturday 13 March are:

* Closure of the M6 Southbound J10 to J8 including the M6 J9 exit and entry slip roads to the A461.

Fully signed diversion routes will be in operation for each of these closures.

David Grant, project head said:

“These closures are necessary to install the gantries and technology which will facilitate the use of Managed Motorways on the M6 between Junction 8 and 10A.

“Once complete, these improvements will help 160,000 road users make their journeys safely and more reliably every day by using variable speed limits to manage the flow of traffic and opening up the hard shoulder as a running lane to provide additional capacity when required.”
