The CIPD People Management Awards to celebrate good practice through recession in 2010
Nominations for the 2010 Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s (CIPD) People Management Awards are now officially open. Standard categories such as Employee engagement and Organisational learning will be contested as normal, alongside The Michael Kelly Outstanding Student Award, introduced this year to recognise the contribution CIPD students make to business success. An overall winner that transcends the categories will also be announced at the ceremony on 10 November, 2010.
In their fifteenth year, the CIPD People Management Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding achievement in HR. The Awards exist to showcase examples of good practice and acknowledge HR initiatives that have transformed organisational performance and employee development.
The Award categories include:
- Employee engagement
- Excellence through technology
- HR impact on business success
- Organisational learning
- Performance and reward
- Talent attraction and management
More information about the Awards can be accessed from the CIPD website: www.cipd.co.uk/awards
Jackie Orme, CEO, CIPD, says: “Our annual awards are a great opportunity to celebrate the best in the profession. The UK’s recovery from recession presents huge challenges and opportunities for people managers throughout all industries and sectors. It’ll be those organisations that really get the best from their people that will be best placed to rise above the competition as the economy starts to grow again. This year’s awards are more important than ever as they will help to showcase organisations that are helping to shape the profession and align their people strategy with business needs.”
Michael Kelly, Vice-President Membership and Education, CIPD, adds: “I am delighted and honoured to have my name associated with the student award. It is an award that celebrates not just a knowledge and understanding of HR, but also its contribution to business success. The new award is timely as CIPD launches new qualifications as part of wider efforts to boost HR’s contribution to sustainable organisational performance.”
The call for entries closes on 4 June, 2010, with the overall winner and category winners being announced on 10 November at the CIPD’s Annual Conference and Exhibition, in Manchester.
