Drivers need to be prepared as clocks go forward
With the clocks changing forward this Sunday, FleetDirectory.co.uk is taking the opportunity to remind those that drive for work that the mornings are set to get dark once again.
With the weather forecast set to be changeable over the period too, the fleet guide is reminding fleet drivers that at this time of the year, driving conditions can vary wildly.
As motorists wake up to dark start once again, the industry guide says fleet managers need to remind drivers to switch their lights on once again and ensure that they are wide awake for the start of their shift.
While the affect that changing to BST has on motorists is not as well publicised as the affect of the clocks going back in Autumn, FleetDirectory.co.uk knows that a return to darker morning again can take drivers by surprise and leave them ill-prepared to deal with the road conditions. While only a temporary return to darkness, the traffic associated with the forthcoming Easter bank holiday makes for stressful and chaotic driving conditions.
“As Easter comes early this year, it coincides closely with the change to BST, meaning that drivers have to deal with darker starts to the day just as the traffic conditions become more tricky,” says FleetDirectory.co.uk spokesperson Richard Lawton.
“Our advice to fleet drivers is to make sure they plan their journey thoroughly and to bear in mind that those darker mornings may leave them feeling tired and irritated. Plenty of sleep the night before should help, while music and open windows should help keep you wide awake and relaxed while driving,” he adds.
