EASTER WEEKEND UPDATE

Road users travelling on the 9,534 carriageway miles of England's motorways and major A roads over the Easter bank holiday will benefit from the suspension or completion of 60 per cent of roadworks by the Highways Agency to help drivers make smoother journeys over the Easter weekend.

As part of the Highways Agency's commitment to ease congestion and help drivers make their journeys more safely and reliably during this busy period, roadworks will suspended wherever it is safe to do so between 6am on Thursday 1 April  and 12:01am on Tuesday 6 April.

M1 JUNCTION 25 TO JUNCTION 28 WIDENING

DERBYSHIRE

ONGOING – A50 JUNCTION 4 (TOYOTA)

Slip road closure eastbound and westbound from Monday 4 January until Friday 30 April 2010 between 9pm and 5am, for junction modifications.

ONGOING – A50 JUNCTION 3 CHELLASTON

Slip road closure to eastbound from Monday 4 January until Friday 30 April 2010 between 9pm and 5am, for junction modifications.

ONGOING – A5111 RAYNESWAY

New dual carriageway link and major junction improvements at Raynesway Park began in August 2009 and will continue until autumn 2010.

The work will provide access to the new Derby Commercial Park which is being built alongside Raynesway and the A6 Alvaston Bypass, and reduce congestion on this route at peak times.

Traffic management will be installed at different locations and different times while the scheme progresses.

Raynesway River Bridge

Contraflow or lane closures in place both north and southbound, along with a 30mph speed restriction for bridge maintenance, 24/7 traffic management will be in place (removed for bank holidays). Works are scheduled to run until Monday 19 April.

LEICESTERSHIRE

ONGOING – M1 JUNCTION 22 AND JUNCTION 21A

Lane closures with hard shoulder running, slip road closure and 50mph speed restrictions, for surfacing works. The overnight works will take place from 10pm to 6am until Sunday 18 April.

ONGOING – M1 NETWORK DIVERSION ROUTE SIGNS, STAGE THREE WORKS

Installations of new network diversion route signs and diversion symbols at various locations on the exit slip roads of junction 24 of the M1 near Kegworth and at two other locations in the vicinity of A50/B6540 junction near Hemington in Leicestershire.

Daytime works will run 9am to 3.30pm and night works will run 8pm to 6am.

ONGOING – A46 CARRIAGEWAY IMPROVEMENTS BETWEEN RATCLIFFE AND SIX HILLS

Construction work to rebuild and resurface a 2.8 mile section of the northbound A46 in Leicestershire started on Monday 22 February.

The work takes place 24 hours a day, seven days a week until Friday 30 April on the northbound carriageway followed by some daytime lane closures for another two weeks. The works will be completed in two sections.

For the first section, traffic management will start just north of the Six Hills café and petrol station and continue to the north of the A46/B676 Six Hills junction. This involves a contraflow system with northbound traffic running on the southbound carriageway for the duration of the works in this section. The work and all traffic management will be lifted for the Easter holidays.

The second section of traffic management will be installed after the Easter break on 12 April. This will cover the stretch of carriageway from south of Seagrave crossroads to north of Six Hills junction. The contraflow system with northbound traffic running on the southbound carriageway will be in place for approximately three weeks, followed by lane closures.

During the four overnight closures of the southbound carriageway traffic will be diverted along the A606 and A607.  The diversion route will be clearly signed.

LINCOLNSHIRE

AMENDED – A1 COLSTERWORTH TO STOKE ROCHFORD

Carriageway closure northbound for resurfacing, overnight works from 8pm to 6am until Saturday 12 April.

AMENDED – A1 HARLAXTON

Carriageway closure due to resurfacing works southbound. Overnight works from 8pm to 6am until Saturday 15 April.

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE

ONGOING – A52 BARDILL’S TO JUNCTION 25

Various slip road, roundabout and lane closures in both directions for electrical works east and westbound began on Monday 8 March and will run until Tuesday 20 April, from 8pm to 6am.

ONGOING – A46 CROPWELL BUTLER TO SCREVETON

Major works for the widening of the carriageway until Monday 30 April 2012 between 4.30pm to 6am. This will include carriageway closures, temporary traffic lights, speed restrictions, verge working and works off the carriageway.

ONGOING – A46 WIDMERPOOL TO CROPWELL BUTLER

Major works for the widening of the carriageway, this will include carriageway closure, temporary traffic lights, speed restrictions, verge workings and works off the carriageway. The work is due to take place until Monday 30 April 2012.

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE

NEW – A14 ADVANCE WARNING OF FULL CARRIAGEWAY CLOSURES

The A14 Corridor traffic management scheme will be closed for the two weeks after Easter. There will be no temporary closures from 6am Thursday 1 April until 7pm Monday 12 April.

The following closures will then be in place:

Tuesday 13 April, A14 westbound full carriageway closure between junction seven and two Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 April, A14 eastbound full carriageway closure between junction two and seven Friday 16 and Monday 19 April, A14 westbound full carriageway closure between junction 13 and 10 Tuesday 20, Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 April, A14 eastbound full carriageway closure between junction 10 and 13

NEW – A45 BILLING TO EARLS BARTON

Carriageway closure with diversions northbound for site inspection and survey. Overnight closures from 8pm to 6am on Sunday 4 April to Sunday 25 April.

ONGOING – A14 JUNCTION 1 TO M1 JUNCTION 19 FILTER DRAIN RENEWALS

The existing filter drain stone within the eastbound and westbound verges and central reserve will be excavated, cleaned, and replaced in one operation, thereby improving the drainage conditions.

Overnight works began 15 March and will run until 11 April, from 8pm to 6am Monday to Thursday, 9pm to 8am Friday, 7pm to 10am Saturday, and 9pm to 6am Sunday.

50mph speed limit will be in effect for the duration of the works, traffic management will be as follows:
