Fleet Alliance raise ‘Monster’ sum for Maggie’s
Fleet Alliance have completed their monster fund raising effort for Maggie’s with eight dedicated souls from the Glasgow-based fleet solutions provider, finishing the 30 mile cycle ride and 43 mile run to raise an astonishing £13,000 for their nominated cancer charity.
Over 1,000 entrants took part in Maggie’s Monster Bike and Hike on the May Bank Holiday weekend, with Commercial director David Blackmore finishing, after 12 hours 10 minutes, a hugely impressive 14th place, bettering his position of 15th last year.
Fleet Alliance had set a fund raising target of £10,000 for this year, but, thanks to generous donations from clients, suppliers, staff and family members, has easily beaten that target less than five months into the year.
Managing director Martin Brown paid tribute to the staff who took part and the fund-raising efforts of all involved.
"I would like to extend our thanks to all those who took part, those who supported them physically and those who backed them with their sponsorship. We had set a £10,000 fund-raising target for this year and to beat that so soon into the year is a remarkable achievement.
“I’m pleased to report that the entire Fleet Alliance team attained their personal goals in spite of some unseasonably windy weather. The team gave their all and everyone at Fleet Alliance is very proud of their achievements.
“The donations we have received will go a long way towards helping Maggie’s provide invaluable support for anyone with cancer or for family members caring for a loved one affected by the illness,” he said.
Fleet Alliance has now raised more than £30,000 from the last three bike and hikes for Maggie’s.
Maggie’s Cancer Care Charity comprise five centres in Scotland, including Edinburgh and Glasgow, plus London, Oxford and south west Wales, with three more planned in Nottingham, the north east and the Cotswolds.
