Network Automotive: Time is right for new fleet car sales
Network Automotive, the Bedfordshire based motor industry consultancy, says that with fleet sales showing signs of revival franchise dealers should be refocusing on new car sales to fleets during 2010, which will help to offset to the end of the scrappage scheme.
Managing director Colin Bruder said: “Most franchise dealers have taken their attention away from fleet new car sales in the last couple of years because that sector of the market has been so sluggish.
“However, month by month, sales are showing signs of a gradual recovery and dealers should take note. The fleet sector is not about to boom but it should recover its overall importance to the new car market through 2010.”
Bruder said that the post-recessionary fleet market was however, different from the one that dealers would have known through economic boom times.
He said: “Fleets are spending money very cautiously, as you would expect. They are not just looking for a good deal but have often changed their choice lists so that the models now being bought have a higher accent on function rather than employee satisfaction. They are also looking closely at the acquisition methods available to them.
“Dealer managers need to ensure that staff understand the requirements of this post-recessionary fleet market and can work to meet its needs.”
Network Automotive has worked extensively with franchise dealers and manufacturers for more than two decades to enable them identify opportunities in the fleet sector.
Bruder said: “We have a very high degree of expertise in both the mainstream and specialist fleet sectors and have seen a return of interest in recent months by dealers and manufacturers who want to make use of our services.”
