M4 between Membury Service Area and Junction 14 The major maintenance scheme on the M4 in Berkshire continues this week, with work being carried out to install a new concrete barrier in the central reservation between Membury Services and Woodlands St Mary.

Narrow lane traffic management is in place on both the westbound and eastbound carriageways, with overnight lane closures.

Work is scheduled to be complete by the middle of August 2010.

M4 Wood Lane Bridge Pier Protection
The main phase of work for the Wood Lane Bridge pier protection scheme continues this week on the M4 between junctions 5 and 6. There are narrow lanes on the eastbound and westbound carriageways, with overnight lane closures on the main carriageway and M4 junction 6 westbound entry slip-road. An enforced speed restriction of 50mph is in place.

The scheme is scheduled to be completed this month.

A404(M) Western Region Railway Bridge
Ongoing work to replace the Western Region Railway Bridge on the A404(M) near Maidenhead continues this week. Contraflow traffic management is in place with two narrow lanes available at peak times in each direction. A 40mph speed limit will be in place. Overnight there will be occasional contraflows, lane and slip road closures with signed diversions.

A404(M) Kimbers Lane Footbridge
Work to replace the Kimbers Lane footbridge continues this week on the A404(M). There are narrow lanes on both carriageways, with two lanes operating at peak times. The hard shoulder is closed in both directions. A restricted speed limit of 40mph is in place and enforced using average speed cameras.

Work is scheduled to be complete in August 2010.

A34 Wolvercote Viaduct
We have recently removed all restrictions on the A34 at Wolvercote following the viaduct replacement. Restrictions remain on the A40 at Wolvercote until the scheme is complete and all the work needed under the viaduct finished.  Work is expected to be finished in the autumn.

A303 Rookesbury Subway
Work to repair the Rookesbury subway on the A303 is continuing this week.  The work will be undertaken during daytime hours. There will be no requirement for traffic management on the A303 or on the bridge.

M3 J3 Resurfacing and Loop Cutting
In order for loop cutting and surface repair work to take place, the southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight for one night on Wednesday 28th July between the hours of at 10pm and 6am. A diversion route will be fully-signed.

Repainting of road markings – various routes Markings on sections of four major roads across central southern England are to be repainted. The work to refresh the edge and lane markings on the A31, A303, M4 and M27 is being carried out to improve the safety of road users. The scheme is due to start on Monday 26 July 2010 and will take about four weeks to complete, weather permitting.

The work will be carried out on sections of road at the following locations:-
A31 between Ameysford roundabout and Picket Post, Hampshire and Dorset
A303 between Thruxton and Forton, Hampshire
M4 between junctions 15 and 14, junctions 8/9 to 10 (eastbound) and junctions 5 to 10 (westbound), Wiltshire and Berkshire
M27 between junctions 1 and 3, junctions 4 and 5, junctions 7 and 11, Hampshire

Repainting will be carried out using overnight lane closures between 9.30pm and 5.30am when traffic flows are lower, keeping disruption to a minimum.

A3 Hindhead
Work continues this week on this major improvement scheme. At the southern end of the project, there is a 50mph limit starting south of the A3 Liphook junction, reducing to 40mph at Hammer Lane.

Traffic management for the scheme starts just before the A3 Thursley junction at the north end (nearest to Guildford) with a temporary road layout and 40mph speed limit.
