Highways Agency to carry out masonry wall repairs on A40 at Whitchurch (Herefordshire)

On Monday 9 August, the Highways Agency will replace eroded stone and carry out repairs to the masonry wall on the A40 near Whitchurch. The work is expected to take three weeks to complete.

The wall is in need of work to keep it structurally safe and prevent it from falling on to the carriageway. Work will be carried out between 09:30 and 15:30 to reduce the impact on road users during peak periods.

To carry out the work a lane closure on the A40 will be required. The B1464 entry to the A40 westbound will be closed during the works and a clearly signed diversion route will be in place.

Highways Agency Project Manager, Mark Collins, said:

“The Highways Agency will be repairing the A40 masonry wall near Whitchurch for a period of three weeks. We are carrying out the work during off peak hours to reduce the impact on road users.

“Road users on the B4164 are advised to allow additional time for their journeys, due to the short diversion route that will be in place.”
