Inchcape wins Techie Award for customer extranet
Inchcape Fleet Solutions, the leading, independent international automotive distributor and retailer operator, has won the Best Fleet Management System category in industry publication BusinessCar’s ‘Techies 2010 Awards’ for its bespoke customer extranet system.
The category attracted numerous entries, however, it was the Portsmouth-based company’s system that has been developed in-house to individual client specifications, which allows drivers access to a wide range of support services.
Inchcape was also highly commended in the Best Leasing and Contract Hire System category for its new multi-bid system, which allows fleets to collate vehicle rates from multiple funders as a way of lowering the cost of each individual vehicle.
Paul Barker, editor of fleet industry fortnightly BusinessCar, said: “The fleet management category was one of the most hotly contested, yet Inchcape Fleet Solutions was chosen as the clear favourite by the judges. The impressive online presence through a company’s own extranet site provides many ways of saving time and money, the two things that mean the most to businesses, and that’s why it’s a worthy BusinessCar Techie winner.”
The extranet sites enables the company to provide customers with more functionality covering operational and reporting capabilities including a comprehensive range of reporting and information interfaces with finance, HR and payroll systems. It also enables fleet managers and drivers to specify the extranet ‘dashboard’ to meet their personal requirements. In addition, drivers can arrange vehicle services and maintenance online and both drivers and fleet managers can access a range of support services. They include:
- The ability to request information on products and services
- Make tax and fuel calculations
- Route plan
- Check real time traffic information and access information sites
- Access Transport for London’s website to pay congestion charges
- Catch up with the latest environmental information to check their carbon footprint
- Read the very latest industry news relating, for example, to new model launches and road safety developments.
The sites utilise the very latest Microsoft .Net technology and also give maximum client data protection.
Using eQuotes, the online ordering system drivers can enter the secure, password protected website 24/7 and spec their new company car to meet their own individual criteria within policy restrictions and are then able to use the eQuotes website to track the order status of their chosen vehicle.
Inchcape Fleet Solutions’ managing director Terry Bartlett said: “We have invested heavily in online technology to help customers – fleet decision-makers and drivers – reduce their fleet administration so it is very gratifying that our systems have been recognised as industry-leading by BusinessCar.
“The raft of information available enables fleet decision-makers to slice and dice data in every conceivable way to give them sight of any particular issue that they want to highlight. Information available is endless and for fleet managers that means maximum control to monitor and control drivers, vehicles and, crucially, costs.”
