Northgate Makin it happen for the movies and TV

, Britain’s largest vehicle hire company, currently has more than 50 vehicles on hire to television and film industry logistical support company Makin Movies thanks to its flexible hire service Norflex, and that number could increase by up to a further 20 later this year.

The company has been a vehicle supplier to Makin Movies for almost a decade supplying Mitsubishi L200 4x4s, and more recently panel vans and Lutons, which are used to transport equipment and props to and from different film and television locations.

Currently vehicles are being used behind the scenes on a number of films including the making of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 4’ starring Johnny Depp, ‘Johnny English 2’ featuring Rowan Atkinson, ‘Sherlock Holmes 2’ starring Robert Downey jnr, the next ‘X-Men’ movie and ‘War Horse’, which is being directed by Steven Spielberg.

Makin Movies has also supplied vehicles from Northgate Vehicle Hire during the making of a wide range of films including: ‘Harry Potter 1-5’, ‘Quantum of Solace’, ‘Casino Royal’, ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘Da Vinci Code’ and ‘Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy’. Television credits include: ‘Poirot’, ‘Miss Marple’, ‘EastEnders’, ‘Spooks’, ‘Silent Witness’ and ‘Holby City’.

Northgate’s Sales and Marketing Director, Gareth Jones said: “Demand for vehicles has continued to rise throughout 2010 and has peaked this month because production studios are fully booked by film makers as more producers make their movies in the UK.

“In addition to supplying an unprecedented number of vehicles to Makin Movies the range of vehicles we supply has increased to meet varied demand from film and television programme makers. The indications are that significant demand for support vehicles will continue at least until the end of the year”

Sarah Brook, Manager at Makin Movies, said: “Frequently we are asked to supply vehicles at just one hour’s notice. It is therefore vital that we have a vehicle supply partner that we can rely on to deliver.

“We have worked with Northgate Vehicle Hire for many years and the company always pulls out the stops to deliver vehicles when and where we require them to meet the demands of producers.”
