An interview with Sortimo Central

Based in Birmingham, West Midlands, the company has fitting stations throughout the UK and Ireland. We spoke to the Managing Director, Mike Southall to tell us more about what the company has to offer.
Q: Sortimo provide solutions for all kinds of trades; from electricians and plumbers to caterers and gardeners. Are you happy then to take on jobs involving a single van right through to fleets of hundreds of vehicles?
A: Our customers have fleets ranging from one van through to thousands of vehicles. Irrespective of how large the company, by using Sortimo equipment all our customers save money due to increased fuel efficiency thanks to our strong but lightweight system. Whether our customer requires a single van with plylining or a fleet of 500 vans complete with full racking system, electrics and decals we will always make sure their vehicles leave our workshops on-time and finished to the highest level.
Q: Why is finding the right storage solution so important for businesses?
A: Many businesses are looking at reducing waste and one of the most expensive areas of waste is inefficient use of labour. Once our customers have used the Sortimo racking system to organise their vehicles they refuse to use anything else. They find that by having a place for everything efficiency is greatly improved and ultimately helping to improve profits.
Q: What sort of storage and racking products do you have for commercial vehicles?
A: Sortimo Central offer a complete fabrication system for both commercial vehicles and many domestic vehicles. All these manufacturers offer light commercial vehicles with in-vehicle equipment from Sortimo. Q: Sortimo also provides ‘tailored’ van racking solutions for the trade. Tell us more about this service.
A: Through close contact with our customers we have developed custom designs for all trades including decorators, plumbers, sheet metal trades or electricians providing the right van racking for your vehicle. This means there is no more searching for parts and tools – everything has its allocated place. Tailor-made for your requirements Sortimo equipment fulfills your transport requirements.
Q: You say your storage solutions are safe, environmentally friendly and economical. Tell us, how do you meet these requirements?
A: Our equipment considerably improves the passive and active safety of the driver and the load helping to limit the potential danger of carrying equipment. The number of accidents with CVs has increased dramatically in the last 5 years, many of which are caused by unsecured cargos. Continuous crash testing in accordance with ECE17 with our partners from the German ADAC, Dekra, TRL, TÜV and UTAC always bring us excellent results and confirms the extra safety offered by Sortimo in-vehicle equipment. Crash testing also shows an increased chance of survival with safely stored materials and tools. Our AluSpaceFrame provides a strong yet lightweight construction to give our customers the quality and safety associated with Sortimo whilst reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. All Sortimo Globelyst components are also 100% recyclable.
Q: You also offer a range of storage solutions for cars and SUVs. What can you offer to customers running these types of vehicle?
A: The CarMo system, standing for Car Mobility, guarantees efficient working for all trades and services in many non-commercial vehicles. The L-Boxx system in combination with the CarMo base plate allows for a variety of height boxes that can be secured into the boot of a car. This allows you to safely carry files, machines, tools or parts in the boot giving you peace of mind whilst providing a practical and efficient storage solution.
